I would have your veterinarian contact BET Reproductive Laboratory in Lexington, Kentucky. They can be reached at (606)273-3036. I would suspect a pituitary tumor in this mare.

: I am also having udder trouble in my maiden 30 year old Arab/Quarter
: pony.Three years ago, the left side starting swelling and producing
: pure colostrum (according to my vet). He gave a hormonal injection
: and it cleared up after about a month. Last May, the left side started
: up again, and is still producing milk regularly. If I don't manually
: "milk" her every 2 days, she will have a long cylindrical hard swelling
: running from the udder toward her front. The swelling and udder are
: not hot or painful. Horse has been on Equine Senior and fescue pasture
: for several years. She did develop hind end lameness in September and
: was treated for EPM. She still has the udder trouble and lameness.
: Any connection between the two, and any suggestions to stop the udder
: from producing the milk? My vet has no solution on the udder except
: more hormone shots. Also, could a tumor be causing this? Thanks for
: any info!
