my horse was doing fine with his club foot until this year. He had been without a shoe on the club foot for 1wk or so and one day i went to get her out of the pasture and found that the club foot had broke off half the length of the other foot. my farrier came an had to add to the foot. she did good with it untill this week. started limping or short stepping on that leg. could it be an abscess.

More likely bruised tami but it could become infected. Without more information on the damage particular recommendations are impossible but in general you need to protect any areas of the sole that are contacting the ground.
