Hi. We have a mare that we bought 3 yrs. ago, that is supposed to be registered. However, the owners that had her before us were never able to get the papers on her. She is built nicely, and doesn't look like a Heinz 57 mutt horse. My question?
If we take a picture of each side and front and hind, send a letter as well as the pics to the AQHA, saying where (area, town, state, etc.) she came out of, all the scars shown in the pics that she had when we bought her and what ones she acquired, her age, height, etc., will they be able to find out if she is registered w/them? Or will I be wasting my time? If she is, will they give me the name and address of the last known owner?
Thanks

Hi Laura,

It's odd that the previous owners were not able to get the papers on her. I doubt AQHA will be able to tell from pictures whether she's been registered but they might be able to get some info if you have the dam and sire's registered names. Unless you can prove AQHA parentage it's impossible to get papers. Also, the older the horse the more expensive it is to register.

good luck
