I am sort of embarassed that I don't know the answer to this, but here goes: does the first frost kill off adult mosquitos? I assume that the pupae or whatever are dormant until spring. I am one county away from 2 equine WNV cases, but I'd rather hold off on vaccinating until spring, when we have more data on adverse effects. We've had a couple of frosts now in Philadelphia and I am wondering if that eliminates the risk of transmission.

No, mosquitoes find places to hide and even after a frost is the day warms up to the 60s mosqitoes will fly again. A string of really cold days usually will knock them back but I have found in moderate climates that just a week or two of warm weather even in the middle of winter and they will be flying again.
