My 20yr old gelding has started to urinate in the trailer just in the past 2 months. This started end August, we were 3 hrs into our trip to Maine. Happened on the way home too. And it happened again Sunday after a pace event just after loading to come home (about 4 hrs from initial departure). Generally, he'll go in the field wherever he might be (including at shows); I try to make sure he's had a chance to go before we load. Maybe he was too nervous these 3 times to go before we loaded, but I was also noticing he's dropped more often just standing around than he used to be. Is this just a normal part of the aging process?
Thanks,
mw

Without examing your horse Melissa we cannot know if there is a problem. But if the only problems are those described: urinating on the trailer and drops down a little more than he use to, I would not be too concerned. Mention it to the vet next time he is out and have the penis examined.

Thanks, I don't think there's anything wrong with him. I was just wondering if retention ability declines a little with age.
