I keep a number of the small round tack sponges that come in a pack of 10 handy for applying gooey things onto the horses.

For example, my jar of Gnat-away has its own sponge inside that I use to apply it. So does the jar of vaseline, desitin, udder creme, swat, etc. The sponges also minimize waste as you can get all the remainder out of the jar before you throw it away. They also help to apply it smoothly and evenly.

I got this idea from ladies who use small sponge applicators to apply makeup.

Sponges can be washed out and reused many times when the jars are empty.

Cheers.

I didn't even have to go to the tack shop! There in my closet where several of those little tack sponges, waiting for the day when I might one day clean tack (yeah, right). Those sponges will have a much more productive life living in the gooey jars. I just hate the feel of SWAT -ick!
