We purchased a horse who had some rotation in both front feet. This horse had laminitis as a two year old (now 9 years old). He had been worked until he was hot, put in a run which had mud up to his fetlocks and it was cool out. The owners felt this stress caused the laminitis. this horse has had no problems since, but she was very adament about not feeding him alfalfa. We have had this horse for a year and a half, I do give him some alfalfa, along with brome or prairie hay. I do not turn him out on grass or allow him to free feed on hay. If this horse foundered on stress conditions, do you feel feed - such as alfalfa would be a problem? thank you

If alfalfa makes sense in balancing his diet I don't see a problem here Sherri.
