I found one thread from 2000 and thought it worth revisiting...seems feeding a cup or two of sunflower seeds is becoming quite popular. I just wanted some feedback on your thoughts or any concerns. I currently have one horse that I feed oil for the additional calories and traveling, particularly in hot weather is inconvenient with oil. I was considering other options. Would there be a digestibility concerns (perhaps a bit nervous in light of the recent colic)? |

Hello Leah, I found this one in the search enginge that you may have missed. It addresses many issues on sunflowers and if you have more questions about them you can post them there: http://www.horseadvice.com/cgi-bin/advisor/show.cgi?tpc=3&post=30488#POST30488. DrO |

Thank you- I did miss that thread....It seems lately many many folks are feeding the sunnies and swear by the little gems...It also seems it is a more popular feed additive? supplement? in places like Australia... I bought some to try as a treat or enticement-I was looking for something less messy than oil for calories, but this may not solve that problem. Maybe some others will see this and add their experiences. Thanks for the direction. |
