This is just a warning about this company. I purchased a barn from them almost 3 yrs ago. It was the worst experience I have had with a contractor. I chose Diamond J because in phone conversations the office was polite and professional. This changed once I gave them my deposit of $3,000.00. I was lied to over and over again about start dates. My barn is out of square, warped boards, out of level, latches do not work because they do not line up and part of the siding is inside out. They refused to fix it and I am left with an insightly looking barn. It is still hard to believe that someone that was so nice and sincere while courting my business could be so unprofessional once the money changed hands. I also have to say because I trusted him because he was so nice I did not do anything to protect myself legally in our contract. I trusted his word and therefore did not get every detail in writing. Be very careful if you deal with this company. And yes I did talk to a happy customer first her barn turned out great no problems. However her barn was much larger and she was the first in my area. I am sure that there are others that I did not hear about that had the same experience as I did.

OMG!!!! I've been looking for a new barn, and I was deciding between Castlebrook Barns and Custom Equine Design (Formerly Diamond J) Now I've decided on Castlebrook, they cost about $3K more, but it sounds like they're worth it to not go through what you went thru!

Thanks! PERFECT TIMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ann,

I just talked to North Coast, their quote was $3K less than Castlebrook. However, they don't have a contractor's license. Is that something I need to worry about? What about workman's comp? I know absolutely nothing about all of this...Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Aileen, that was never an issue with us.. i will ask my husband why.. * he is a contractor himself*...

i went by referrels for this company..i called folks that had used them and also went to look at the finished barns...

i also did the same with MD barns.. NC was just better in my book...

happy hunting..
