Hi, sorry new member and may have posted at the bottom of someone elses page, but, I have a 5 year old Lusitano Gelding??? imported from Spain 10 months ago so not much information on when gelded. He acts like a stallion, but have not seen him mount mares, also the Mares in the yard also seem to think he is a stallion too...As it is October and at the end of the breeding season here in the UK, is there any point of having him hormone tested or am I better to wait until early spring when the Mares will come back into season.
I would really appreciate any advice.

Thank you Anita

Hello Anita,
Unlike mares, stallions will successfully breed year round. There is a measurable decrease in some sex hormones in the short day months but the tests should still be able to detect the presence of testicular tissue. See the article on Castration (associated with this forum) for the latest in testing.
