My arab, donkey and I moved from California to Vermont. My arab, Charlie, lost a lot of weight on the way - he is prone to ulcers which for sure flared up due to the stress of travel and lack of hay eating. We are successfully getting him back on track with Gastroguard and more than free-choice hay which is what he got before. Dr. O's articles are awesome and I apologize to appear lazy but if its easy enough - would love some feedback on what he's getting now that we're in Vermont. He still needs to put on some more weight.

Here's what he's getting:
- Constant turn-out (10 acres) of nice green grass (introduced him slowly to it - am still slightly worried about grass & laminitis)
- 5 lbs of Poulin Forage Extender a day (nutrional analysis copied below)
- 2 cups of blackoil sunflower seeds
- 2 cups of Cocosoya (one in am, one in pm)
- 2 Oz CoolCalories (recommended by my vet - nutritional content copied below).
- PHAT vit & min supplement (apparently we're selinium deficient here - this vit/min was recommended and includes biotin).
- Mineral salt lick

I trail ride him about 2-3 times a week, approx. 4-9 miles a ride.

I think I should drop the CoolCalories since he's also getting Cocosoya?... The forage extender is beetpulp & alfalfa so thinking ok to continue on that... was also offering him grass hay but need to find better source as it was terrible stuff.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY FEEDBACK!
