My horse is on a regular paste worming schedule, but he is in pasture with 2 other horses of dubious de-worming. He is shedding out his winter coat oddly, retaining small clumps here and there, and rubbing his tail a little as well. Overall his weight and condition and coat are very good, and the last de-worming he had was a drench of ivermectin 7 weeks ago administered by the vet. With the retention of coat and tail rubbing, I am wondering if he might be a little wormy. I was thinking of switching to a daily wormer, however, I have heard that there is an interaction between daily wormer and MSM--- I can't recall what exactly it was, but I thought it had to do with liver damage...? Is there any way this could be true, or is it an equine urban myth? My horse gets MSM daily in his feed, and his supplemental feed only once a day, so the daily wormer and MSM would be administered together.

I do not know of any information to confirm or contradict the notion that MSM deactivates the pyrantel.
