hay y'all..
things are looking fairly good that I will be able to move into my own place with my horses in the next 6 weeks or so... it's a small place-only 3 acres (on a cops salary what else can i afford?!!), but the fields are all hay fields and have been excellently maintained...and with all the rain we've had in north central texas this year they are very green and lush...they will be turned out 24/7, tho i will probably set up a dry lot fairly soon...

what this means to me is that my pony is going to make the good year blimp look like a poster child for starving children in ethiopia unless i can find a good grazing muzzle...
from my research i think that the deluxe grazing muzzles are the best for our situation.. i'll pad it as needed... my question is sizing.. i know a couple of you have one or have used one in the past... how are they sized? my pony is one of those funny inbetween sizes... height wise he's pony sized-standing about 12 hands, but bulk wise he's regular sized horse, weighing at least 850 lbs (and that's when he's "thin"!).. he wears cob sized equipment, but usually at the smallest size-or pony sized let out all the way... what size muzzle do i need? can any of you that have one do any measurements for me so i can try to figure out what might fit my pony?...

fortunately my arab will benefit from half a day or more of grazing on good pasture, so i should only have to muzzle the pony... of course, he's a big of a houdini when it comes to wearing things, so we'll see how that goes!

thanks in advance!

Hi Melissa, the cob size fits my arab gelding well and he has a bit of a pony head...not the usual narrow arab muzzle. I can measure it if you'd like.

Hi Melissa, I see your pony is a halflinger. My neighbor also has a halflinger and she borrowed my cob size and it fit him perfect.

The bottom of the muzzle is a 6.5 in. x 6.5. The top part where the halter goes on is 7.5 x 7.5.....this is the deluxe model. I think they make the standard one smaller. Hope that helps...OH and the best price I found was at www.unitedvetequine.com They don't say it is the deluxe grazing muzzle but it is.
