Hey Dr. O,
Maybe this is a problem with my laptop, but after I read your "forage" article, I was attempting to follow some of the links you offer. I could access any of the UK articles provided, but all of the other links I attempted (from Oregon and Indiana, etc...) resulted in a message saying "unresolved dns server problem" or something to that effect. Just wanted to make you aware in case it has to do with the HA site itself. Thanks!

Martha,

DNS stands for Domain Name Server. Your Internet Service Provider uses this to map the textual address of a link (e.g. horseadvice.com) to an IP address (a funny number with more than one period in it.)

This is probably more than you want to know, but you probably do want to contact your ISP and tell them of the problem. You should give them one of the full textual addresses that you can't get to.

Good luck,
Wiley

Wiley,
Thanks for the info... though I am somewhat computer savvy (from the standpoint of shopping on ebay and chatting on HA), I do hate all the other "technobabble" stuff! However, that being said, I asked my Dad to attempt to access the link and he received the same error message; now, I have DSL through my local phone service and my Dad has a combination of satellite and phone service (he lives 75 miles away and has Dish satellite and a different phone service than me)... so, I'm still concerned the links on HA represent ?old "domain names" and are no longer valid... did you try to link to any of the Oregon State stuff from any of the pasture articles and were you successful???

Martha,

Apologies -- I indulged in my love of lecturing rather than checking that you were indeed right. Someone should slap me around for that.

Dr. O,

It looks like Oregon State has reorganized it's website. The index to forages is here:

You're welcome, but Martha is the person that found the problem. I just complicated it.

Wiley,
Thanks for the correct link above... I had gone searching, but managed to stumble onto some other forage info... anyway, the reason I have been trying to gain more info is that I contemplating whether or not to use a seed mix on my pasture this fall that contains a species called Festulolium (that's another thread I started about the same time...) Surprisingly, Oregon State has no info about this species... oh well, I'll keep looking, but thanks again!
