I looked up a link for these clear plastic strips that I would like to hang over my stall doors so the horses can go in and out yet keep the major wind out in winter, and maybe some flies out in summer. Has anyone done anything similar? I am looking for feedback on durability and practicality. The ones I am considering are: Aleco Energy-Saving PVC Strip Doors with MaxBullet Hardware — 4Ft. x 7Ft., Model# 440001 I would order them if I thought the horses would leave them alone or if they are durable to take a little play. Comments anyone? thanks, Erika

A couple of years ago, some people that lived next to me did that. As I recall they had originally used a 'edged' carpet remnant(solid, not strips), that was sized 1/2" smaller than the door opening, hammered it on and sprayed it with no chew, it worked fine and they remove it during the summer . And then they decided to upgrade to the PVC strips. The did say that their horses like it better becAUSE they could kinda see thru it. Their horses never messed with it that I know of. Are your guys nibblers? Leslie

I worked in a barn that had them on all the stalls (each had an attached run). They worked great at keeping flies out of the barn in the summer but were a little less effective at keeping wind out in winter (they moved in the breeze, not a lot but enough to let in a draft). I think they are a great idea!

Thanks, you guys. I am thinking of the clear plastic so they can see also. The strips on this particular one overlap by two inches so they may be enough to keep some wind out. The stall doors face the weather side, although I have a large overhang that keeps it dry around the outside. Do I have a "nibbler", Leslie? Hmm...I have a very busy Cleo who is smart and always looking for action. She would be the one to pull them down if anyone would. I'm thinking I will try them. They will be sure to appreciate the fly relief in summer too. I may move to the barn soon. It is getting really deluxe down there and I'm tired of taking care of the house--something always needs work up here! Thanks for the feedback. Erika
