Hi DRO
I am planning to frost seed my pastures in a month or so. Kentucky has been in drought so I was thinking of using the "smart seed' which is drought resistant. ( http://www.smartseed.com/ )
I am wondering if there is any problems for the horses for doing this? I dont know much about the seed. I assume its genetically engineered...wondering about higher fructans and such.
My horses dont have any pre existing health concerns such as prior founder.
As always...Thanks a bunch

I would not recommend this seed for pasture without more information. But my first impression is this is a fescue fortified with the fungus responsible for fescue toxicity. I can't confirm this from the information in the ad however. You should talk to your local extension service for recommendations for pasture grasses.

Hi DRO just an update:
Your first impression was right! All the 'smart seed/drought resistant' stuff is turf not forage, and therefore has bad endophyte. Thanks for the heads up:-)
My Ag guy told me to use the horse pasture mix at the local coop.

Thanks again!
Leslie
