I keep meaning to share two things I've added to my barn that 1)Makes access to halters/leads easier and 2)Improves fly spray application.

1. I recently went through closets with the idea of de-junking. I started to throw out an old rack for hanging up shoes....the kind that hangs on the back of a standard door or on a wall with rows of wire bent into upside down horseshoe shapes on which you hang shoes. Something I read eons ago popped into my head and I decided to put it up next to my tackroom door (did I read it here? How embarrassing if I'm posting someone else's idea!) to hang stuff on. It works GREAT! The shaped wires don't pose any hazard and they can be moved toward or away from the wall to accommodate larger or smaller items....you'd be amazed at all it will hold. OK, this thing is not made to last for years and occasionally a wire thingie will come loose, but they only cost about $10-15 bucks and I have enjoyed the ease of access and the number of things you can get to hang on one of these....you can lay crops lengthwise across the tops of the wires as well.

2. After seeing someone do this on a weekend trail ride, I bought a gallon-sized weed-killer spray applicator from WalMart for $8.97. Comes with an applicator wand. Pump up the contents for pressure, then hold down the spray button on the wand. It is FAST, efficient, makes no noise, and takes half the time (and seems like less product with more coverage, though I can't swear to this.) Mix it a gallon at a time. Currently trying out the new Farnam fly spray product that supposedly makes 100 gallons. Maybe, but not with any repelling efficacy. I may get 5 or 6 gallons. Anyway, try this method. You'll LOVE it.
