Hello Dr. O, I generally worm my mares with Ivermectin within 24 hours of foaling. However, this year I am following your schedule using Moxidectin instead of Ivermectin. Is it safe to use Quest on a mare who has just foaled? I assume it is safe for the mare, but is there any danger to the foal? ie. issues consuming milk from a mare who has just been wormed with Quest (obviously I wouldn't be worming the foal!) thanks! CC

Hello CC, I would check the labels on any product I was considering using at this time and if not approved for the time frame you are considering discuss it with your veterinarian. I personally would trust ivermectin with a near or just postpartum mare but if it is not labelled for this you must assume the risk of such administration. DrO
