My farrier said last trimming that my mares hooves were too dry and that if i didnt soften them up she could chance hurting her legs, Ive tried rainmakers hoof conditioner two times a day and also soaking her corral floor so that she has to step in water but nothing has helped and he will be coming back out next week! any ideas on how to get my mares feet softer?

This idea is nonsense at least if I understand the situation right. The problem is your horse's hooves have become so hard that it is very difficult to trim. The reason they are hard is because she is living in a very dry environment, which also is very hard. The feet need to be tough.

I do have a suggestion for making trimming easier however: stand the horse in about 2 inches of water for about 30 minutes immediately before trimming.
