I am seriously considering the purchase of a Silver Star Trailer (with small living quarters) for camping with my horses. Silver Star is an all aluminum trailer that comes out of Ridgeland, SC. Does anyone have any experience or comments on these trailers? Thanks!

Hi Vicki- We bought ours three years ago- we LOVE it! It is a usable two horse slant/gooseneck with a dressing room.....we trail ride so really do not need "living quarters" cuz if we go away, I want a bed and hot shower with a real pillow ;} But I have an air mattress when we do camp over....it has slats that are removable- like a stock tailer on both sides and at the ends/doors-I leave the slats in the tie area to keep the horse noses in and protect their eyes and the slats off the doors and on the passenger (horse rear end side) for circulation. We have had not even one issue with the trailer-(knock knock)They come insulated so no drips- love the interior and back up light , etc. It is solid as far as hauling/stable,,,it is airy and the horses stepped up on it first thing. We clean it good/remove the matts twice a year. I think you can't go wrong from my experience and dollars- we looked at alot!! aLL THE MAJOR NAME BRANDS- we pull two horses, tack, luggage and a couple of dogs to boot with a Dodge 1500 hemi extended bed and no issues with turns, breaks, parking, hauling etc- everyone remarks on it when we are at rides because it is handsome too! Good Luck with your search! Terri

Terri -- thank you very much. I saw these trailers at an equestrian event in Jacksonville, Florida and was impressed with my appraisal of the quality -- but I'm no expert. I've got a Featherlite slant load I use lots and will keep for my trail riding, but their quote for a living quarters trailer was very high. I'm going to go ahead and get a Silver Star for my camping trailer! I camp at least twice yearly with my horse in the Ocala Forest and would like to expand to a few more trips.
