Dr. O,

1 week ago I tried to deworm my horses with ComboCare (obtained by mail order). I severely under-dosed the mare, because the plunger did not work properly (it jammed about 2/3 to the 1100 lb dose I had set). I tried to un-jam it - but by that time my mare was resisting and the dose went astray (jamming again at the 1000lb point). Fortunately, when worming my gelding, that syringe worked properly. I was not able to get to a store quickly to get more dewormer, and now I am wondering what to do.

About mid-April I will have the vet for spring check-up and will have fecals run on both horses at that time (this is my "moxidectin year"). Should I re-do the worming with the proper full dosage - or just wait and make my decision based on the fecal?

I had both these horses on daily Strongid for several years, but decided to go with the recommended 3 year rotation of Ivermectin/Moxidectin/Daily Strongid because of concerns of resistance to the Daily Strongid.

Thanks in advance,
Lilo

If your deworming management and program has been good skip it if it has not repeat the deworming.
