Dr. O, CA is having an unseasonable wet spring this year.. OK flooding / marshy / soggy spring .. My pastures are underwater with grass growing thigh high now, and by the time I can let horses on it will be higher still.. If the rain ever stops it will be a good 4 weeks to dry out and be able to turn horses on it.. ...Ok all that being said.. BUGS! are going to be a huge issue this year becus of the tall grass... I was reading your articles re Ticks and tick washes... What do you recommend I wash the horses tails and manes with... ?* of course when and IF I ever get to open my pastures... Precaution will be taken as well to getting the horses tummies used to the tall grass .. On the first day God created horses, on the second day he painted them with spots..

The article says to use a commercial tick dip or spray product, they are all very similar Ann but the name brands available form area to area may vary. Stick with a company name you recognize. You could get one from your local small animal veterinarian or check your local pet supply store. DrO

Since I have guinea hens I don't find ticks on the horses, only on the dogs cause they go in the underbrush. Only problem with guinea hens is that they make a lot of noise. You need a lot of land and or nice neighbors. Guinea hens can wander up to 2 miles away from home. You train them to return home to roost.
