The post on bridle hooks and subsequent discussion of duct tape reminded me of this helpful hint.

My mare or her pasture mate broke a top rail of their fence in an effort to get to the "better" grass on the other side. The barn owner wasn't around and I couldn't find any duct tape to use. It was a beautiful night and I didn't want to put the girls in their stalls for the night. So, I grabbed a roll of vet wrap and used that to tape up the 2 ends of the board until I could notify the owner. Figured it was a good temporary fix...well, it's been well over 2 weeks with some very heavy downpours and it's still holding up...as long as you don't mind purple vetwrap on white fencing!
