Does anyone use the fly repellent misters in their barn? I have been thinking about putting some of these in my barn but I have not heard if anyone is having any luck with these and where to get them. I am using fly predators, fly spray, either roll on or masks. We have been using the dairy spray in our barn, which works great, but it is very expensive and you have to spray several times a day to control them. |

We have the battery powered automatic misters above each of our barn aisle doors. I think they help a lot as we have very few flies in the barn. I wish they would work in the fields and pens. We do all we can, but have neighbors with cows and sheep, so it's difficult. |

The barn I used to board at had them. I thought they worked quite well. |

Sara are these fly repellant misters? If so, do you know where I can get these? I have run a google search but cannot find any. I want to put them on the length of my kennels. What I have now are hundreds of feet of sticky fly tape that I change every 3 days. I don't have a huge fly problem except on the border with my one neighbour who has recently put his compost pile right by the kennels. A mister would save me a lot of time. |

Country Supply carries a small, inexpensive unit as well as a barn system that is more expensive, but has a single drum and then misters that install above each stall. There are also some other brands out there. The one we are installing is from Stablemaster. It is a little more expensive, but supposed to be well worth it from all the reviews I have read. |

Like Melissa, I was going to mention Country Supply, as well as some of the other catalogs. Our local feed co-op store can order them, also. |

I just ordered a couple of the inexpensive misters from Country Supply. I got the unit and the spray for about $30. My husband went to the local tack store yesterday to buy some more fly spray for the barn, the dairy spray and the lady there told him he would kill the fly predators if he sprayed too much. I haven't thought about killing the predators. We put the predators around the manure piles and also around the barn. Will this spray kill them? |

Should there be concern over the toxins the horses are breathing in? |
