Hello,
I am trying to save some money (have two horses now) and I will be having my vet out on the 16th. for exams and teeth.
My horses are also due for shots, and I am experienced giving IM injections, so I was thinking of ordering the vaccines from KV.
I am looking at the Prestige V by Bayer. (I am in SoCal)
I will be administering them myself on the morning of the 16th. (this way if there is any reactions at all, my vet will be there in the afternoon).
I also know there is a high incidence of reaction with the Bayer vaccines (I believe it was because they were using "live" strains, I will be using an "inactive" strain of vaccine).
My question for you Dr. O, what do you recommend and what do you think of the Bayer vaccines?

Hello Angela,
I don't use the Bayer vaccines so I really do not have an opinion of them. I really think most of the name-brand killed-injectable-vaccines are very similar. It is the new intranansal products that are to be considered as they have increased efficacy and decreased serious side effects.

Thanks DrO, I am going with Ft. Dodge for my vaccine brand. My young horse is due for Strangles in July, I will be giving him the intranasal strangles as I know it is safer.
Thanks for the input...
