This is quite the most important fluke (trematode) of domesticated livestock, particularly ruminants, around the world. However, Fasciola hepatica appears to be infective for almost any mammal, including horses and man. Though a potential cause of disease in horses they tolerate mild infections with no symptoms of disease. This article discusses the life cycle, diagnosis, disease in horses, and treatment of this parasite of horses.
