I am treating my mare for leg injury and everytime it scabs over she reaches down and rips the scabs off...i am perplexed what to do...muzzle her or what any ideas....i mean she rips them off big time....the leg is healing she just will not allow it to scab. Is this unusual i tried to find others that discussed this and cannot find any threads on this issue.

Hi Elly,

Did you ever see a neck cradle? It is a necklace like thing made of wood, long rods that keep the horse from getting his head down to his legs. They carry them at http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=30E08040-7B6A-11D5-A192-00B0D0204AE5
you can at least see it here.
Good Luck
Jean

How about a good bandage with the outside reinforced with Elastikon?
