I have a 3 year old forest bred gelding. I bought him in late winter 2002 so he was covered in alot of hair. Since he has shed his coat and is now in a short summer coat I have noticed these odd lines on his tummy.
They are fatty or muscley and there is a definite line around the area where the bottom of his rib cage is on both sides. They look abnormal and certainly stick out like a sore thumb. They obviously do not hurt him but there is a definate line there.
He is very sluggish for his age and work intolerent but I put it down to him being stubbon. Apart from that he has no other symptoms.
Is this a heave line or what else could it be?
Would the breeders have known this before they sold him? What would you suggest I do about it?

Thanks

Hello Missa,
I am unsure what you are seeing and it does sound like the normal ridge created by the back edge of the ribs and the junction of the abdominal-thoracic-pectoral muscles. Could you take a picture so we can see?
