Hi, I'm new here so I hope I'm in the right place! A friend of mine has a 4 month old colt whose testicles have dropped. The concern is that they seem very large, about baseball size. There does'nt seem to be any pain or stress involved, eveything else is fine. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks in advance

I wouldn't think anything would be wrong with him. I had a colt born 2 years ago with his testicles already dropped, and when the vet came out to check him and mom out she actually commented on them. She said that she'd seen alot of yearlings with testicles smaller than that. Dr.O will have to give the final opinion on whether he thinks there is something wrong, but I would think that as long as they're not hot and don't get larger (at least not right away) that they are ok.

Hello Sherry,
I have watched this thread to see if someone had such a experience. In general I try to avoid doing second hand consults for a number of reasons however if your friend's goal is to raise a stallion he should consider a hormonal study and perhaps biopsy. A review of hormones he and the dam may have been exposed to should be undertaken for possible explanations.
