My 7 month old filly has very tender back feet.
She was so lame she wouldn't follow her mom.
At that time I had the vet out who checked all her joints and did pressure testing on her soles.
She checked out fine everywhere. She stocked up on one back leg also, I thought this was really weird.
About two weeks ago I noticed dark spots on her soles near the toe, and one at about the 1/4 mark.
These do seem to be tender; they are also soft, rottenish. I can pick out the dark sole with the hoof knife.
She is not as lame as she was but is still quite tender.
Now that I can see these bruises should I pare them out?
I am guessing I trimmed her too flat and she bruised on the frozen ground.
Thanks

Lori, it is unclear from your posts what your dark spots are. Usually you do not pare out bruised appearing sole, but then again neither is it usually "rotettenish". Perhaps a better explanation or better yet would be some good photos.
