Hi Dr. O.,

I was hoping you could give me a little insight. I went to look at a horse today that had excessive clicking of his joints in his hind legs. I've heard horses click before, but this was multiple clicks that occured constantly. He sounded like someone popping bubble wrap the whole time he was moving. I would get any horse vetted before purchasing, but should I even consider bringing this horse home for a trial?

Thanks,
Tara

In general we think the clicks are harmless but there exact cause remains controversial. If they were unusually loud and constant I would probably pass on the horse, but I have to admit, I do not have a good medical reason.

Thank you Dr. O. I love your honesty! I'm leaning towards passing on him too, but I'm going to give it some more thought.

Thanks Again,
Tara
