Seems like always some thing. I noticed my colt as a yearling had a small lump on the front upper part of his knee. It was about the size of a quarter and soft. I never seen him lame on it and doesn't seem to be in any pain what so ever when I push on it. It has been there now about 4 mo. I had the vet come out and look at it right after I noticed it and she came before I got home and said she couldn't even find it until she flexed his leg then it seemed to pop out but she just thought it was superficial only. I just seem to worry when I don't know for sure if it will cause any problem. I have no idea how he got it. I have read all the problems with the knees and none of them seem to describe this. The vet just thought it was tissue of somekind pushing out between the bones in the knee. I hope I have described this well enough to get your opinion.

Check out the condition Carpal Hygroma in the Overview Article. It gives a description of several conditons that may behave this way.
