Hello again all has been well with my two problem prone colts.. My new question is I have a 16.2- 2 year old that has one leg a little shorter than the other one as a result he has one foot longer and one with crushed heels. My vet is a track vet and for more serious things I haul out to a equine hospital she agreed with the shoer that he has a crushed heel and it has become a problem I can feel it when I walk him there is no head bob associated with it, it feels very mechanical any way my shoer is very good and works well with the vets he said to keep the heel from getting further crushed we needed to adress it now. He has been trying to keep the angle right by removing as much toe as possible but can not get the problem under control that way so we went to a 2 degree wedge pad with a egg bar on the foot. My question is my colt does not seem to be comfortable on it his knee is popping forward when he stands and most the time he stands with this foot forward of the other one so as not to bear weight on it. He seems comfortable at the walk but I think I notice a slight pop at the knee like it is not fully flexed and also when he is at play it seems he does not want to fully extend at the trot he would rather canter, when he does trot though he is not lame. I am concerned about tendons and ligaments is it possible this could be too much angle for him? I feel in the back of my head that he is in abother growth spurt and is just shakey in the knees and I guess if I did not have these changes done I would not worry about it but here I am worring.... I have been doing DMSO and standing wraps I just started last night... My vet will be out today to look at him and the shoer will be back next week. Is it possible he just needs time to adjust? the shoes have only been on for a week.

Simply, if the problem did not start till right after the trim the trim is the probable cause. But it may be do to either mechanical problems or from foot pain. Will time make him correct, possibly, but an assesment needs to be done to better understand what is happening.

Thanks the vet was out today she has no clue as I thought she said to have the shoer check it... I have seen a huge change for the better after the DMSO standing wraps but I will have the shoer out on Wednesday and if that does not solve the problem it looks like I am in for a haul to the Clinic.
