Looking at my mares mouth I noticed a tooth that appears to have recently errupted. Meaning just broke through. Could this be? It's location is lower jaw on the left side a space away from the front teeth it's slivered looking. Any info would be appreciated.

It sounds like a canine. Yes it is possible though this does not represent recent growth of the tooth. You frequently find vestigial upper and/or lower canines that lie just under the mucosa in older horses. It feels lie a hard bump. If your horse had a recent incident that resulted in the tooth tearing through the overlying mucosa, it may appear recently emerged. More likely though is that you have not noticed this small toothe before. For more on identifiction and typical eruption times see, » Care for Horses » Routine Care & Procedures » Equine Dentistry.
