Hi its me again, the one with the colicy pony. For those of you that need a reference its under "chronic colic" in the main colic forum (the one with 30 some posts). I have a thought I need to inquire about. I never mentioned this before because I thought it was an impossible situation, but, my pony is an overo palamino paint. I was told she was overo when I bought her, she apparently had a few babies. She has had chronic recurring colic since we bought her about 4 years ago. We have done every test imaginable(see old post). The only thing I can say about her is she has low motility and has inconsistant drinking habits. I am constantly giving her bran and soaked beet pulp(daily) with soaked hay to keep her regular. She has been mildly colicing since sunday this week but I think she will be fine. Could there be a slight affect of the overo gene to reduce motility? I would hate to think that its in her genes and this is her fate for the rest of her life. Thanks for any opinions Shelley |

None that we are aware of, but no one has looked that I know of. The lethal white gene appears to be completely recessive so those that carry do not have an increase incidence of colic that has been recognized yet. DrO |
