I have a 7yr old paint gelding. I've had him for 6 months. He is stalled. When I bought him, he had four of these bumps on the right side of his neck. Every month a few more appeared. I attributed them to fly bites, that's what they look like. Then, this month, more have appeared. He also got what looks like rain rot on his girth area. One little quarter size spot. I did everything you listed in your article to treat it, and it worked. But the bumps are increasing. They go from his neck, to his shoulder, and are now going to his side. When I lift the hair, the skin around the bump looks normal, but on the head of the bump, the skin is discolored, blackish/purplish. I feed him 80/20 (orchard grass/alfalfa) hay. Any ideas what this could be?
