This APHA stallion is 12 years old, very quiet, easy breeder, sometimes reluctant or interested enough to breed. He had a testicle go up and the other appears smaller than normal, what is going on, I have never had this happen in any stallion we ever owned. Also, the five mares he has bred since this has occurred have settled

When stallions breed they do tend to pull the testicles up tight against the body. How long has the testicle been up and can you neither see or palpate it?

We have used this stallion since he was four, we breed several mares, he has never had a change in size or location of his testicles. You cannot see the testicle, and the other is smaller than usual, our local vets have no answers. We will probably take him on to K-State to see what is going on. Thought I would see what your thoughts were

Hmmm, you do not remember a traumatic episode of any kind? Otherwise I cannot think what would cause such a thing. I have seen a stallion that got into a fight with another stallion pull up one testicle out of sight for several weeks but it eventually returned. I do think you are doing the right thing to get a careful evaluation including a seme evaluation and ultrasound.

We are very stumped also, along with the 3 area vets. This guy has always been by himself, he is very low keyed, quiet breeder, never has been kicked by a mare or otherwise. He is healthy..., between him and the colt with the severed tendon, when it rains it pours...,,
