Hi All,

My farrier told me that if you dilute betadine it is more effective for thrush. Has anyone heard of this? I did a search on our site and found nothing. I have diluted betadine in the past for wound care. Thanks. Leilani

Hi leilani, that doesn't seem to make sense. I would think you would want the betadine at full power. You especially wouldn't think it would be more effective anyway....don't know? I have heard of diluting bleach for thrush.

If diluted, it would probably be less drying and maybe would not kill as many "good bacteria," though overall, have to wonder about this theory!

I too find the theory hard to swallow but have never seen any studies on this. I will still be using full strength.

Thank you. I will continue to use full strength as it has worked very well for me in the past. Leilani
