I have a 1 yr. old colt who is has and is being shown in halter.
So he does get fed VERY well and worked lightly.
He's new to me but, in all my years of owning horses, I've never encountered this before.
Rambo's right front leg will tick as he takes the weight to make another step. I believe it's coming from his pastern joint and the tendon is slipping to the side giving the "popping" sound. It's very loud and doesn't seem to bother him, but I have seen him stumble on that leg numberous times.
Help!
Kim

Hello Kimberly,
Many horses make this popping sound with no problems so lets unhitch them. Concerning the stumbling you need to have the colt evaluated for lameness and proper trimming: is he being left too long or improperly balanced. For information on lameness evaluation see, Equine Diseases » Lameness » Localizing Lameness in the Horse. For information on trimming see: Care for Horses » Hoof Care » Trimming and Preparing the Feet for Shoes.
