I have searched all the topics on eyes and cannot find an answer hence this message.
I have a 24 yr old part bred arab who is dark bay. All his life he has dark brown eyes and dark brown pigment surrounding on what I would deem to be the whites of our eyes, (sorry I do not know correct term) and I have only seen the whites when frightened. Well lately I have noticed a little pale pink/beige patch at the side of his eye where it was previously brown. It is not on the iris but to the side, on the eye ball. It seems to be getting a little larger and I am wondering if there is anything I should worry about or it it due to his age. His vision in that eye does not seem quite as good as it used to be but not surprised due to his age. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Oh , I forgot to mention he appears to have no pain, and the eye does not water.

regards
Dawn

Hello Dawn,
Concerning the color changes, your post leaves open many possibilities perhaps a good image would help us. If you feel the horse has a developing blindness you should have your veterinarian out to examine the horse's eyes.

Thanks for replying. I am afraid a photo is out of the question as he is terrified of cameras. EVen from a distance if I take a photo the moment he hears it focusing he is off so to put one so near would be unfair. I had hoped someone may have some idea but guess I will have to book a vet soon as I can.
