Cat welcome to HA. Your description really doesn't give much to work with. How long has this been going on? what do you mean by "off"

I know when my horses trot up a hill, especially if it is steep their gait changes and feels different as they are pushing off and trying to dig in. If they are not use to hills or not in good shape it can make them feel "off"

If you could give a more detailed history it would help you get a better response.

That makes sence!!!!!!!!!!!

I do endurance
one race I got into race mode and went to fast........
in sand (not to deep)

he was slightly lame after that..
Im guessing i might have strained something
he was resting for three months
we have been troting on the flat and walking up hill
there is this one hill that we trotted a little on and it didnt feel right...
Im just not sure...
He has been seen by my vet
we are all over it.......
but I just wanted to see if someone had any thoughts on it

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have also had horses be "off" up or down hills due to feet being slightly "off" and the hill causing additional pressure to a certain part of the foot. Also, riding hills can cause additional pressure and possibly pain in portions of the horse's back (going up) or withers (going down)if the saddle fit isn't too good. But it absolutely could be a lack of conditioning as described by Diane. Good luck.

Welcome Cat,
I am still a bit unclear. Did your veterinarian find the horse lame trotting up the hill?

My vet has seen my horse several times through out..............
I called my vet and told her what was going on.......
knowing what he looked like just recently the vet said to keep riding him and if I came to a hill..walk up for the time being...
and that we will keep a close eye on it to see if this gets worse or if he stars to do
a little better.......

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
