I injected my mare with 3ml of ace. She moved and the needle wiggled out after I'd only got about half in. I reinserted the needle and gave the rest.

Immediately after, I noticed a knot at the injection site.

Can someone tell me what this is from and what I need to do about it?

The injection site was in the neck.

Kayla, if the knot was there as soon as you were done with the injection it maybe either medication deposited right under the skin or possibly a small hematoma. If this is what you are seeing, and it would require and examination to know this, they will both be self limiting and not require treatment unless they become infected. They will grow larger and painful if this happens. If so you will need to have the veterinarian out to drain the infection and start some antibiotics.

Sounds right, esp from the wiggling. The needle moved inside of her. Thanks.
