I don't know what this is or if I should be worried. I have a 13 month old small Jenny & this morning when I was brushing her I noticed this pink "bubble" coming out of her vagina. This is my first young donkey..any idea what this is? Has something ruptured? She does not appear to be in any pain, but this is obviously not normal. The area is clean, there is no blood, it is soft but cannot be pushed back in with your finger. It looks and feels like the inside of a human cheek. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I hate having to call out a vet on a Sunday & would like to know if this can wait a day?

Hello Hayseed,
Most often such a bubble is edematous swelling of the vaginal wall do to trauma, possibly while scratching against a tree. However a prolapsing bladder or uterus cannot be ruled out by the image alone so an examination by the veterinarian in order as it may worsen quickly and be much more difficult to treat. Straining is a sign it is a immediate emergency.
