I wanted to follow up with you , I posted problems with my Foxtrotter on the Gastric ulcer site , and then after talking with all of you realized she has gas colic when riding . I took her to another pasture , about 30 miles away and in less than a week , all of her colic symptoms are gone . I was able to ride her for a couple hours without any incident . The new pasture at my mother's doesn't have any clover in it . My pasture is nothing but white clover and weeds, My other horses are slobbering due to the fungus on the clover . Today I bought a sprayer and some Round -up and sprayed the entire 7 acres of pasture . I will re-seed it with some Timothy hay. What a relief to know that my mare is going to be ok.

By the way , I took the other horses off the pasture too and will move them to my mothers for the rest of the season .

Glad you were able to resolve your problem Veronica. My horses also have problems with clover ranging from bloaty looking and gassy, drooling, and founder. I sprayed all my pastures with 24-d and got rid of all of it. My above problems seem to have disappeared with the clover.

Seems some horses can tolerate a lot of clover and some can't!

Great you figured this out, Veronica. I had horrendous clover problems and attributed it to "scratches". Once I discovered alsike clover ( which was my problem ) and had my pasture sprayed, my problems are pretty much gone...although there is a lingering photosensitivity problem and I must shield the white areas of my horses from the sun.
