If anyone out there is familiar with this problem Please let me know. I have a 28 yr old Arab in trouble and I want he to have her at least in her 30's. Shes so young at heart but I can't get weight to stay on her. Ive put her on Probiotics and added Oats and suppliments to her diet. Any help would be appreciated.}

From the history given in your other post, I wonder if she doesn't have Cushings? Has she been tested for this? Also, what is her feed other than the pasture? And, what type of pasture is she on? What is her worming schedule? Have her teeth been checked recently?

Kristin, I am glad you started a new discussion. Some of the facts in the other discussion should probably be included here - possibly you could cut and paste them in here. I don't have any specific advice - other folks and DrO are much more knowledgeable with these issues. Good luck! I know how you feel and I hope you get help. Lilo

Welcome Kristen, You should start with a good examination by your veterinarian. From the exam results he can decide what would be the best diagnostic/treatment regimen. For a look at some of the possibilities and ways to deal with weight loss in a horse see HorseAdvice.com » Diseases of Horses » Colic, Diarrhea, GI Tract » Weight Loss in Horses » Overview of Chronic Weight Loss.
