I am trying to understand a notation on a pre purchase exam regarding my horses eye. With regards to the Fundus, the notation says "2-3 linear retinal scars noted, dorsal to optic disk". Can you explain to me what that might mean and how that may effect the horse long term? The pre purchase was done several years ago and at the time, no one thought this was an issue. But I was curious if this is something that would cause issues years later. Or if you can tell if this was from a trauma or a potentially internal problem.

Hello Dana, Retinal scarring can be caused by one time acute events or from some diseases that may progress over time. To see if this is such a problem have another exam done and compare the findings. DrO
