Has anyone ever heard of this? It's supposed to be a disease of the throat and when the horse is ridden for a short period of time they can't breathe normally. It's supposed to be rare, but to me it sounds like an allergy, which I was told it was not. I tried a search here and it came up with Epistaxis, but that had something to do with nosebleeds and this is not the case here.

Hello KC, Cicatrix is not so much a disease as a one word term for, "healed with a scar". It can happen anywhere. Of course this does not always result in disease but it can if it interferes with the normal function of whatever tissue was injured. If you have a single medical word or small phrase you will usually find it in the medical dictionary under the "Reference" topic. DrO |
