I have a 5 year old horse who is sound but she never stands square in the stable. When resting one hind leg she will have one front leg 8-12" in front of the other and when she swaps resting legs at the back she also swaps which leg is in advance in the front.

She has never taken a lame step in the 18 months I've owned her and gallops round the field, bucking and squealing every day. I just feel uneasy when I see her, day after day apparently pointing her front legs.

Conformationally she's got good feet with normal heels and is shod every 6-8 weeks. She is slightly pigeon toed which we aren't trying to alter.

Should I be worried about this or not?

Hello DrD,
Would you say beside always sound she is also a very good mover? If so there is nothing to worry about. If you think she has a short choppy stride there may be low grade bilateral pain when forced to stand for long periods. Also is there any reason the stall floor might be uncomfortable to stand on?

Hi DrO , she's a very good mover, she regularly gets 8 for her paces in dressage. She's bedded down on thick shavings which looks comfy. Thankyou for your reply, you've helped to set my mind at rest.
