Dr O, I am reporting what I found out at Sophie's vet appointment. She has pharyngeal paralysis. (Refer to making noise when eating post) I was told that this could be caused by an infection of the guttural pouch, virus ,birth trauma or congenital. She did have an infection in her guttural pouch caused by Strep zo. She had the guttural pouches flushed and an antibiotic medication was injected into the pouch. She is still has the stridor and is unable to run When she eats she is still making the loud stridor noise. I think that it is worse after the guttural pouch treatment.I understand there is no treatment for this condition. What is the best way to handle this. I was told that she might grow out of this or she will get worse and will have to be put down.At what point will I know what to do? I do not want her to choke and die, but I would like to give her a chance to see if there is a possibility that she may grow out of this .
