I have read the wound care section. My gelding's abscess (Pretty confident due to Pigeon Fever) just broke 2 days ago. After draining, I flushed it with luke warm distilled water and weak betadine solution until I was satisfied. Since I know the wound needs to remain open for daily flushing, should I apply anything else to the abscess opening after done with cleaning? Antibiotic ointment or Ichthammol OIntment? the yellow spray? (I think it is called furazone?)
I don't want to hinder.
thanks
Liz/Mary
